The purpose of the tank is to collect the water coming from the works yards and all the flushing points of a steel plant plus the rinsing water from the blast furnace, with a concentration of solids of up to 15% of the total volume.
The maximum specific weight is 1.2 kg/l. The tank size is 11 x 9 x 4.5 m (L x W x H), the maximum liquid level is 4.2 m. The continuous flow rate is 20,000 m3/h.
The agitator must be designed for heavy duty (24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year), since the basin will have to act as a storage tank to feed the sludge dewatering plant in a continuous cycle.
The PRO-DO-MIX® proposal includes a single agitator, model GEL.A8290.L.425/PCX, with industrial planetary gearbox with AGMA factor > 4. All parts in contact with liquids are covered with 4 mm thick anti-abrasive rubber (EBANITE), to withstand the highly abrasive action of powders and to minimise maintenance requirements throughout the agitator’s life.
The images show the carbon steel impeller, with a diameter of 2,900 mm, completely welded to the shaft, before the rubber covering operations.
For sea freight, a special wooden crate of non-standard dimensions has been created to contain the coated shaft and the impeller during navigation.
