Vertical Agitators for Flocculation

Vertical agitators for flocculation, flash mixing and coagulation are the ideal solution for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.

Flocculation in Water Treatment

Flocculation is the stage that follows flash mixing and coagulation. During this phase, the particles to be removed from the water agglomerate into larger masses called flocs, settling in the sedimentation chamber. This process allows the flocs to separate from the water, which will go to discharge. This occurs through the reaction with a polymer solution that acts as a flocculating agent, such as polyelectrolytes or polyamines.

Flocculation requires substantial and homogeneous agitation to facilitate the contact and formation of flocs. At the same time, fluid mixing must be done gently, even for large volumes: overly vigorous mixing could break the flocs in suspension, ruining the entire process. Therefore, it is essential to choose agitators that maximize impeller flow while minimizing shear speed.

Vertical Agitators and Specific Impellers for Flocculation

PRO-DO-MIX® vertical agitators are designed to ensure effective flocculation. Our solutions guarantee high-quality output water, quick process times, and reduced energy and chemical consumption. The 2PM-0650 impeller, specific for these applications, ensures excellent results with high pumping volumes at low speeds. Thanks to its design, the impeller reaches every tank area, eliminating dead zones and keeping all flocs in suspension. The curved blade surface further aids in floc formation.

Flocculation Mixer

Flocculant mixing system with two-blade impeller. Thanks to its high hydrodynamic profile with wide blade surface, has the highest flow rate at the lowest peripheral speed. This design is aimed to prevent the fluid coming out from one blade to immediately meet the second blade.

Therefore, it is perfect when managing very delicate applications, where the fluid needs to be handled very gently and carefully. That is why Premium is specific for flocculation.

It can be manufactured with different diameters, 800 to 3000 mm.

A completely disassemblable option is available as well, to ease the entering through the tank manhole.
